Welcome to the A.C.A.P. Blog!

The Alfred Cox Art Project is about creating spaces for community participation and interaction. Big words for a really simple venture. We like art and we want to see more of it in our city... it's that simple.

Resene Mural Masterpieces...

I'm really liking the look of this! "The Wall" will most likely be done by then. Really looking forward to rallying people together for this. It just keeps getting better people. I also think it will be a good way to build up some good community pride.

The Plan...

So this is the proposed plan for the A.C.A.P. We just finished up our initial proposal, our aim for this step has been to garner the support of our local Council, Gisborne District Council.

The initial feedback has been really good. They like the idea, we just need to outline a couple of specifics. Like, the criteria for how artwork is accepted or approved, how will the project be managed, and how do we intend to maintain the wall.

I'm confident that community groups and organizations will get behind this exciting initiative and support us in achieving and completing the initial steps. I particularly look forward to partnering with people who are interested in this project.

Some of preliminary thoughts are to hold bi-monthly ACAP gatherings where, the local artists will get the art up. Also with these gathering we'll be looking to provide platforms for members of our community who perhaps express their artistic passions in other ways like, music and dance and poetry.

Be sure to check back on further developments...
